Bad Economy = Travel Deals

I recieved an e-mail last night from the Wynn hotel in Las Vegas.  For those who aren’t familiar with the Wynn, it’s one of the newer (and nicer) hotels on the Strip.  It actually has a Lamborghini (or maybe Ferrari) dealership on site.  The Wynn is offering 4 nights lodging and $150 in dining credit for the grand total of $109 plus tax!  Amazing.  I was almost tempted (which was the point of the e-mail) but we just went last month.

Has anyone else seen great deals being offered lately?

Holy cow – it would be cheaper for me to fly to Vegas (from NYC!), take up this deal, and sublet my apartment for 4 nights than to actually stay at home and just…breathe. Hm, and I am indeed contemplating a few days in Vegas this year, too…

I think we’re going to see a lot more of that. We’ve stayed TWICE in Vegas in 2008 on an offer for up to four nights FREE at the Palazzo. (We didn’t take them up on the whole 4 nights, because just being there you bleed money, so 2 nights is all we could afford of the free hotel room.) So I guess there is one silver lining to this whole recession–especially for us retired folk on a fixed income–it’s great to be able to stretch the travel-budget-dollar!
